Rights lobby has demanded for a quick probe of six naked, decomposing bodies that were found at Tsavo West national park on Tuesday.
Muslims for Human Rights-MUHURI has linked the incident to the recently forced disappearances reported from Garissa and other areas of the Coastal region.
MUHURI Rapid response Officer Francis Auma said the organisation has been receiving distress calls from families who are yet to locate their loved ones who went missing under unclear circumstances in Garissa.
Police are accused for the gross human rights violation in North Eastern and the Coastal region.
Auma said Tsavo national park has been the dumping site for people killed in other parts of the country.
“This is not the first incident we are encountering, ICC Witness Meshack Yebei was murdered and his body dumped at the park, same applies to Muslim cleric Samir Khan,” said Auma.
KWS Officers Mark Lesidio and James Simiti found the decomposing, naked bodies at Sanga area a kilometer from Mombasa-Nairobi highway.
The deceased were reportedly murdered from different area and dumped at the park.
None of bodies has been identified so far, however some are of Somali origin.
Auma has called for an urgent probe of the incident.
“In our recent fact finding mission in Garissa we recorded 13 forced disappearance cases, police are involved,” said Auma.
He said MUHURI suspects some of the bodies might be of the desperate Garissa families hopelessly searching for their loved ones.
The bodies have been taken to Makindu hospital morgue for postmortem.
