Muslims for Human Rights-MUHURI has raised concerns over series of attacks and killings in Kisauni Constituency, Mombasa County.

The human rights lobby wants an immediate police intervention to stop the bloodletting situation in Kisauni.

MUHURI’s Rapid response Officer Francis Auma said that four people were killed this week following the reemergence of criminal gangs in most parts of the constituency.

Auma said that the killer gangs would not spare anyone and would attack locals during the day and the situation worsen at night.

He said that two students, James Akunava who was preparing to sit his KCSE examination this year was killed on Saturday while Samuel Odemba a university of Nairobi Mombasa campus student was killed on Monday at Bamburi.

Auma said the killings are a sign of police failure in securing the lives of locals or they do not have the required machinery to pursue the killers.

He reiterated that Kisauni security agents have mishandled the security situation that’s why criminal gangs were attacking, injuring and killing locals.

“Locals live in fear they do not know whom to turn to since both criminals and police have been killing them,” said an agitated Auma.

He said that the county residents were at the mercy of over 50 criminal gangs ranging from Wakali Kwanza, Wakali wao, Wajukuu wa bibi, Chafu, the Killers, Mtalia among many other gangs which according to Auma must be distabilised.

“I wonder what is the work of Bamburi Police officers, locals are suffering at the expense of police laxity,” noted Auma.

However, Kisauni OCPD Sangura Musee said that police were working round the clock to tame the rising insecurity in Kisauni.

He appealed to locals to reveal information that would help the security details properly pursue criminals that have caused locals sleepless nights.
