Haki Africa has filed an official complaint to the Independent Policing Oversight Authority-IPOA over the killing of a youth at Barsheba, Kisauni a day ago.

Haki Africa Executive director Hussein Khalid said that the incident amounts to extrajudicial killing and a violation of human rights, calling on IPOA to conducting independent investigation on what triggered the killing.

Earlier reports from police indicated that Hassan Shee Adoli, 25 was in wrangle with his elder brother over property ownership, but Haki Africa disputed the allegations.

According to Khalid, mostly Adoli was in their target execution list which police are trying to evade.

On his part, Haki Africa Rapid response Officer Mathias Hezron Shipetta has called for immediate investigations so as to tame reckless killings in Mombasa and the entire Coast region conducted by security agents.

He said that police are not mandated to recklessly kill people especially when they are unarmed.

“The information from police does not add-up, if people are entangled in family property dispute the only solution is to intervene and listen to both parties, why do you shoot and kill?” he posed.

He said that Kenya police are yet to change their attitudes.

“Our police are quick at shooting and killing instead of arresting and charging before a court of law, this is totally unacceptable,” added Mr. Shipetta.

He said that Haki Africa is working closely with IPOA to fight for justice for Adoli.

Adoli is said to have been exterminated following a family tussle over a sh. 3 million worthy property at Barsheba in Kisauni.

However, human rights defenders are not consuming the information from the security agents saying that such tussle cannot trigger reckless killing.

Haki Africa’s complaint is also copied to the Director of Public Prosecution DPP Noordin Hajj.
