Muslims for Human Rights MUHURI is now calling for mass action if Member of the National assembly will not take the lead in fighting against exorbitant taxation in the country.
MUHURI’s Chair Khelef Khalifa said that the situation needed immediate actions since Kenyans are worried over the cost of living.

Khalifa said that the country was heading to the wrong direction and the situation may worsen if nothing is done.
The renowned human rights defender said it was pathetic for a government to heavily tax poor Kenyans as that will lead to poverty.
He said that the government was inconsiderate as many Kenyans were now living in poverty and could not afford single meal a day.
“No any country grows economically by over taxing its people, we want our leaders to act immediately or we remain in a pathetic situation,” he added.
Khalifa said that it is almost impossible to extricate crime as youth had no any means of up keeping themselves.
“How can the government hike taxes and impose taxes on basic commodities, Kenyans cannot even afford a single meal in a day,” he said.
Khalifa appealed to the Coastal Members of the National assembly to team up with their colleagues from other regions so that they fight the heavy taxation experienced by Kenyans country wide.
Khalifa said that keeping quite means more suffering and urged Kenyans to unite in pushing for a waiver of the huge taxes.
The signing of the finance bill 2018 has elicited mixed reactions across the country with Kenyans criticizing the government for punishing Kenyans who are already suffering the high cost of living.
