Human rights lobby Haki Africa has called for speedy investigations over the killings of two suspected criminals at Likoni in Mombasa.
Haki Africa Rapid response Officer Mathias Hezron Shipetta said the two youth were killed by a mob at Likoni on Thursday evening.
Shipetta said in the recent past, Likoni has experienced lawlessness and Police should investigate and quell the disturbing situation.
In a statement to newsrooms on Saturday, Shipetta said the killings should cease and police move in to nab all those involved in breaching peace and security in the area.
Mr. Shipetta said the reckless killings have resulted into disorder in the area sending panic to Likoni dwellers.
“Police should not remain mum on this leaving locals to maim and kill each other recklessly, law and order must be observed,” he said.
He urged police to investigate and arrest all those involved in the killing and arrest suspected criminals as well for interrogation.
“If these suspects are nabbed and interrogated, we will unearth all the criminal gang members and stabilise security in Likoni,” noted Mr. Shipetta.
The two suspected criminal were exterminated by locals who said they have caused them sleepless nights.
One of the suspects Adam Juma who was brutally killed was buried on Thursday at Vyemani area in Likoni Sub county, Mombasa.
Shipetta has urged locals to report the suspects to security agents so that they can be pursued and netted.
Mombasa Police county Commandant Johnston Ipara has assured Likoni residents that police will quell the rising insecurity in the area.
He said already investigations were underway to arrest all those involved in the killing.
