5 residents of Old town area in Mombasa who tested positive for Covid-19 virus have disappeared.
Mombasa Island OCPD Eliud Monari said they are yet to make a breakthrough on the whereabouts of the five.
According to Monari police will not relent until the five and their families are arrested and put under forced quarantine.
Mombasa County Commissioner Gilbert Kitiyo said the five picked their families and vanished from their homes.
“We are trailing these five who by now have infected other people so that necessary punishment befalls them,” noted Mr. Kitiyo.
Spreading the virus
During a press briefing in his office on Thursday, Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho expressed his shock over the incident appealing to the security officers net the escapees.
Joho expressed his worries that the five may have already infected their families and other relatives reiterating that they must be pursued, nabbed and charged.
“You remember what happened to Kilifi Deputy Governor Gideon Saburi, that’s what exactly will happen to them,” he said.
Once again, Joho appealed to locals to voluntarily get Covid-19 test so that they don’t spread the virus further.
“In Mombasa our figures are increasing day by day we should not joke with this deadly disease,” he noted.
The five are said to have tested positive of the disease and after learning about their results they quickly picked their family members and left their homes in Old town to unknown destination.
