The National Authority Against Drug and Alcohol Abuse-NACADA has entered into partnership with anti-drug use organisation Reachout Centre Trust in a bid to rehabilitate people who use drug at the Coast.

NACADA Coast Regional director George Karisa said the partnership will help youth out of drug addiction and assisted in pursuing other important engagements in their lives.

Mr. Karisa said that Reachout Centre Trust has been very effective in assisting out those addicted to drugs and NACADA seeks partnership with such organisations so that the fight against drug use in the region can be a success.

Speaking during the signing of the partnership at Reachout Centre Trust offices in Mombasa, Karisa said that the partnership will last for three months where they will later review the outcomes before going into the second phase of the drug rehabilitation program.

On his part, Reachout Centre Trust Executive director Taib Abdulrahman said that the organisation has been working towards disentangling youth from drug use and such assistance from NACADA was highly needed.

Taib said that if the government support the efforts propagated by the organisation, many youth who cannot afford rehabilitation programs can be assisted in accessing rehabilitation services.

“We fully recognise the efforts accorded to us by NACADA and we promise to work closely with the organisation to ensure the fight against drug use in the region yield fruits,” noted Mr. Taib.

The anti-drug activist revealed the organisation will partner with the government in enhancing the harm reduction processes as well as help those addicted in the drug addiction menace recover.
