Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho has been named the Africa’s Business-Friendly Governor of the Year Award winner by the African Leadership Magazine.
Joho tied at the top position with Ifeanyi Okowa, Governor of Delta State, in Nigeria.
The award is a recognition of various reforms Mombasa County Government has implemented in the past decade.
“Our County is the most business-friendly and favourable county for investors to initiate their business projects which not only create employment and business opportunities for our people but face-lift Mombasa county economically,” noted Joho after emerging the top in the list.
Mombasa county embraced the digital space, digitising most of its services where investors and local business owners access most of the information and make business related enquiries through digital processes.
At least 90 percent of the Mombasa County business processes are automated.
All winners and their runners-up shall be presented with an award trophy and formally decorated instruments of the honour at the 7th Africa Summit in London in 2022.
