Tanzania President Dr. John Pombe Magufuli has shut Kenya-Tanzania border.

Tanzania government said it will not allow transport activities across the border urging those with their cargo to apply ways of how to pick their cargo at the border points.

Tanzania government says the move is in a bid to tame Coronavirus in the country.

According to Tanzania government, truck drivers have played a catalyst in spreading Coronavirus across borders.

Fake news

However, Health minister Ummy Mwalimu later said the statement was fake and never originated from Tanzania government.

President Magufuli said only Tanzania drivers were blocked from entering Kenya despite testing negative.

He promised to open schools and other economic aspects of the country urging Tanzania to get back to work.

On Saturday President Uhuru Kenyatta said only cargo transport would be allowed into and outside the country with truck drivers subjected to mandatory Covid-19 test.

However, Magufuli says he will not allow movement of vehicles outside and inside Tanzania urging cargo owners to chat how they will get their goods at border points.

The move has caused major snarl ups, confusion and controversies at the Namanga, Holili border point in Taita and Lungalunga border in Kwale.
