A renowned Coast based artist Fat-S has finally made a major breakthrough after he was signed by a renowned politician Mike Mbuvi Sonko.
Though the contents of the contract remain highly between the two, that plays a major breakthrough for the talented artist who has encountered ups and downs in his musical career.
In a post shared by Fat-S son who is also a talented young artist Hajj Salim famously known as Hajj Mahela, Fat-S is seen in Sonko’s office, the two chatting the way forward as the political campaigns in Mombasa County are highly concerned.
Hajj Mahela renowned for his top songs Nampenda and Baba posted on his Facebook account “Ahsante Sana Sonko Kwa kumchukua Babangu,” which loosely translates to ‘Thank you so much Governor Sonko for signing up my father,”
Fat- S (Salim Mwinyi) will be highly involved in all Sonko’s political campaigns in Mombasa, mandated to use his music to pull the youthful crowds with an aim of wooing voters.
Sonko is seeking to succeed Mombasa governor Ali Hassan Joho in the August, 9 general elections.
Joho is fronting Mvita Constituency Member of Parliament Abdulswamad Sharif Nassir to take over the mantle from him.
Both Nassir and Sonko are in the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya Coalition Party that comprises of the Orange Democratic Movement ( ODM) in which Nassir belongs, the Wiper Democratic Movement political Party in which Sonko belongs, among other 21 political parties.
Fat-S known for his songs Kadem, Ananipenda, Lazizi among others has been participating in meeting various politicians in Mombasa and the South Coast where he had for decades campaigned for them through his songs.
However, the politicians seem to quickly forgetting the renowned artist immediately they sail into power, this has been the norm.
This time his colleagues in the entertainment circle are eager and closely monitoring how it goes between the former Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko and the talented artist Fat-S.
