Barely a week after KTN News anchor left the 24-hour news channel, our platform has established that the renowned TV personality is setting foot into politics.
Wambua while giving the personal news that he was leaving KTN News after calling it home for the last 8 years, assured his vast audience that they will actually catch up with him in a different TV channel soon.
However, it is evident that Mr Wambua is now setting foot in politics.
He is said to be vying for Machakos Town Parliamentary seat in the coming August 9, General elections.
Wambua has been frequenting his home county, Machakos since 2017 strategising on how he can clinch the parliamentary seat in August, 9.
The renowned calm, calculated and composed Swahili News anchor at the Standard group owned KTN Home and KTN News channels did not show any signs of being in love with politics and in most cases played the role of undercover as an investigative reporter together with his close ally Brian Obuya who also left the channel in September last year and joined NTV as Special Projects and investigative reporter.
He also covered various stories including land conflicts, education, gender and social issues.
Wambua also hosted the Afrika Mshariki show that focuses on news and analysis on unfolding and events around the African Continent.
The programme was later redesigned and renamed Darubini ya Afrika.
He hosted Leo Mashinani live news programme that airs between 11am to 1 pm every weekday on KTN News and as well the 7pm Prime time Swahili News bulletin.
After almost a decade gracing our living rooms with well researched news, interview, commentary and analysis, anchoring in his own captivating style, Wambua left his vast fans this message,
‘It has been 8 years since I joined KTN/ KTN News… It has been the best run of my career. I have achieved the best I can in that short period. I made friends…many of them indeed and today I say goodbye a happy man. I am a better version of myself, better than I was in Feb 2014.
Thank you God for everything I am and everything I have. Thank you @ktnnews and The Standard Group Plc for the opportunity to serve. Thank you to all of my bosses for always believing in me and my colleagues for being the best.
To my fans, a BIG Thank you! I am whom I am today because of you. Mola akituandikia tutakutana Tena hivi karibuni kwenye runinga iliyo karibu nawe, that loosely translates to, (To my fans, a BIG Thank you! I am whom I am today because of you. God willing, we shall meet soon on a TV Channel near you)’.
