The much hyped Christmas party ‘Wasafi festival’ is going down tonight at the Mombasa sports club.

Wasafi Classic Baby-WCB is headed by the Tanzania brand Diamond Platinumz while Kenyan team headed by renowned rappers Khaligraph Jones and Redsan.

The Christmas party has been well hyped by a new Nairobi based radio station Energy radio while Pilipili FM from Coast has not disappointed the fans by doing a 24 hyping.

Wasafi Classic Baby team has recently been shaken by the Tanzania Council in charge of arts and music BASATA after it recently banned Wasafi from performing inside and outside Tanzania.

The move follows what it termed as ‘ignorance’ by the two artists Diamond Platinumz and Ryvanny after they performed the ‘Vulgar’ termed song ‘Mwanza’ which was earlier banned by Baraza la Sanaa Taifa – BASATA in Tanzania.

According to BASATA ‘Mwanza’ song is fully of explicit content from its verses ‘Ananivuta ghetto nikampige bunduki’ which according to BASATA simply means going home to have sex.

However, the two rebuked BASATA saying that the song ‘Mwanza’ which has attracted over 5 million views on you tube is mainly to showcase the rich tourism Tanzania has to offer to the world.

“This song does not carry vulgar language as depicted by BASATA, it is a marketing tool for tourism in our beloved country Tanzania,” retorted Diamond.

Recently the duo, Diamond Platinumz and Ryvanny swallowed a humble pie by apologizing to BASATA saying that they were remorseful and asked for forgiveness.

It’s not yet clear whether ‘Mwanza’ song will be performed in today’s Wasafi festival at Mombasa sports club where regular fans will part with Ksh. 1,000 and Ksh. 3,000 for VIP.

However, Both Kenyan and Tanzania unbowed WCB fans have shown much love for the song and many other Wasafi productions.

From Kenya, rappers Khaligraph Jones, Redsan, Timmy T-Dat, Arrow Bwoy Susumila and Naiboi will take the stage against Tanzania brand Diamond Platinumz, Ryvanny, Harmonize, Mr. Lava Lava, Queen Darleen and Mbosso.
