Renowned comedian Charles Bukeko famously known as Papa Shirandula is dead.
Shirandula died in Nairobi while undergoing treatment at the Karen Hospital. The death was confirmed by his family.
The family said that Bukeko went to Karen Hospital on Monday but he did not show any signs of illness symptoms until Saturday morning when he started having breathing complications. “They have not given us the details. We are waiting for the hospital’s report but he was just unwell,” Alice Atamba, Bukeko’s sister-in-law said.
Papa Shirandula is one of the most popular comedians in Kenya.
He is featured in popular local production Papa Shirandula which aired on citizen Television.
In 2012 Shirandula appeared in another TV program The Captain of Nakara.
He also appeared in numerous big-time commercials across the world including Coca Cola and GOTV.
He is survived by his wife Beatrice Ebbie Andega, and three children; Tony, Charlie and Wendy.
The 58-year-old and the firstborn in a family of four was a multiple award-winning actor who scooped the Kalasha Award for ‘Best Actor in a TV Series’ a decade ago.
