Renowned, multi-talented actor Gilbert Owino famously known as ‘Mzee Msiri’ has taken his last breath.
‘Mzee Msiri’ who was also referred to as ‘Gillie’ was part of the ‘Pete’ series that has been airing on Maisha Magic TV Channel.
According to the ‘Pete’ series Head of production Daudi Anguka, ‘Mzee Msiri’ suffered from Liver cancer a disease that he has unknowingly living with it for years.
Anguka said it was just detected last month and the doctors said it was at stage four.
“The situation worsened on Friday and we rushed him to the Coast General Referral hospital where he succumbed in the afternoon as we prepared him to the Ward,” revealed Mr. Anguka.
It is reported that ‘Mzee Msiri’ has been participating in the current ‘Pete’ series shooting and his death is a major blow to both the team and to the whole process.
‘Gillie’ 63 loved acting and his life revolved around acting.
He was a theatre, TV and film director, actor and writer, and a professional accountant.
He was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award, Sanaa Theatre Awards in 2018 due to the contribution he has made in the arts.
