Renowned Coast based radio presenter Solomon Zully has jumped off the Radio Salaam wagon and joined Radio Kaya.
Radio Kaya is the most commanding radio station in the entire Coast region according to various polls conducted by the Ipsos Synovate research company, The Communication Authority of Kenya (CA), GeoPoll among other independent research companies.
Zully broke the news on his official Facebook account thanking his former Bosses for giving him the opportunity to work at Radio Salaam.
“I have always had this thought of presenting a talk show in my native language (Kimijikenda) more specifically in Giriama and when an opportunity presented itself, I said why not? So far the past one week, I have been on air at Radio Kaya doing my thing in Kwale. I am loving it, make a date every Monday to Saturday from 5 am to 9 am with the Giriama queen of the airwaves Beatrice Dama Kahindi, the funny guy Kalambua and I, Jefwa Zully. Thank you Radio Kaya for the warm reception,” he posted.
Zully boasts over a decade of experience in radio broadcasting, having started his journalism journey at Radio Salaam, he later went to Sauti ya Pwani FM.
However, Mr Zully returned to the Islamic News and talk station Radio Salaam until last week when his loyal audience heard him breaking the 93.1 FM Radio Kaya airwaves in a style only he can.
His fanbase that cuts across all walks of life couldn’t believe that Mr Zully could broadcast in his native Giriama language since in over 11 years of radio broadcasting, Zully only handled Swahili talk shows, programs and Swahili news.
At Radio Kaya Zully is taking a rich and wider experience in radio broadcasting including hosting hard talk shows, news and features editing, anchoring news bulletin and general radio production work.
“I want to appreciate my immediate bosses and my colleagues back at Radio Salaam for the teamwork spirit they accorded me. I am extremely grateful,” he said.
Zully has tackled political, education, technology and innovation, gender and human rights, land conflicts among a range of topics both at Radio Salaam and at Sauti ya Pwani FM.
At Radio Kaya he hosts the Mijikenda breakfast show ‘Voroni Enehu’ that loosely translates to (Good morning Brothers and Sisters) alongside top Mijikenda female radio personality Beatrice Dama Kahindi and a comedian Kalambua.
