In a bid to embrace technology and ensure access to vital government information and services, The County Government of Nyandarua has launched free public WiFi points across the county.
According to Governor Francis Kimemia, the move is to ensure Nyandarua achieves a fast, reliable, efficient, and affordable ICT network that will enable rapid access to information vital for economic and educational development in the county.
With the biggest consumers expected to be the youth of the county, He reiterated that the initiative is paramount going by the current economic times as well as technology that eases connection to various services and daily works.
Kimemia noted that it will come in handy to enable them to access online Government services, research, working and attending virtual classes.
Among the areas where the WIFI hotspots centers have been stationed include Njabini Youth Centre, Engineer Stadium, Wakirogo Stadium, Ol’Kalou Youth Empowerment Centre, Ol’Jororok Stadium, Ritaya Primary School, and Ndaragwa Stadium.
The county boss added that his administration had put resource centers in vocational institutions used for the Ajira Training Program where more than 130 youths successfully completed their courses.
However, the youth in the county have been challenged to start thinking outside the box and venture into the online spheres noting there are multiple avenues to create business opportunities as the Country is taking a shift towards being digital.
At the same time, Nyandarua County Commissioner Benson Leparmorijo has warned people against the vandalism of the gadgets that are aimed at helping the larger community.
