At least 21 people sustained serious injuries on Monday after the vehicles they were traveling in were involved in a road accident at Kizingo kwa Mumba area along the Mombasa-Malindi highway.
The accident occurred few metres from where 15 people perished five days ago following a tragic road accident.
Malindi OCPD John Kemboi said the accident involved Faulu Sacco shuttle and Jemedari Sacco shuttle.
“Jemedari shuttle was heading to Mombasa from Malindi while Faulu shuttle was heading to Malindi from Mombasa where the were involved in a head on collision,”
Malindi Sub county hospital administrator Job Gayo said four people suffered broken legs during the accident.
“Those who sustained serious injuries are 16 men, 4 women and a child, they are recuperating at the hospital,” said Mr. Gayo.
The accident occurred barely a week after 15 people died in another grisly road accident at the same area.
The accident involved two mini-buses Muhsin bus that was heading to Garissa from Mombasa and a mini-bus that was traveling to Mombasa from Malindi.
Local leaders blamed the contractor of the road for causing the accidents area, claims that the contractor has since denied.
