Police in Mombasa are detaining for suspects nabbed in the CBD early Tuesday.
Mombasa County Police Boss Johnston Ipara told the press that during the arrest, a pistol and 7 rounds of ammunition were recovered from the suspects.
However, the 5th suspect managed to escape police net at the Bondeni area where police conducted an early morning raid.
He said that the four are suspected to be in a network of criminals who have been terrorising locals in Bondeni, Majengo and Changamwe areas within the County.
Mr. Ipara said that police will not relent in containing the wage of crime in the County that has recently sent locals into a panicking mood.
“We will not leave our County to the hands of criminals we will tackle them even if it means using excessive force, locals are living in fear and we are the only source of hope for them,” he said.
Ipara said that the police department will not relent despite being accused by human rights defenders.
“We are not out to kill we are only out to protect the lives of innocent Kenyans we have not killed innocent people, our pursuit is only against criminals,” he insisted.
Ipara appealed to locals to work closely with the police department so as to ensure security in the County is fully sustained.
The four will be arraigned in court after investigations.
