A senior police officer has been rushed to a private hospital in Kwale County after angry bees invaded Kenya Defence Forces recruitment exercise at Kinango in Kwale County.
According to officials, the huge swarm of bees disrupted the exercises even before it officially kicked off.
Over 500 youth from Kinango Sub-county had gathered at Vigurungani grounds in Puma Ward Kwale County to participate in the exercise.
However, even before they tried their luck, a swarm of bees struck and everyone including senior police officers and the recruiters from the Kenya Defence Forces scampered for safety.
A youth Mgandi Kaingu said they had no option but to vacate the field.
By 12 noon on Thursday the swarm of bees was still singing warning songs completely keeping vigil so that none of the KDF officials or the youth steps in the Vigurungani grounds.
It’s not yet clear whether the top KDF officials will call off the exercise and reschedule it on a different recruitment date or they will plead with the bees and proceed with the exercise when the two security parties come into an agreement.
The Kenya Defence Forces is conducting a nationwide recruitment exercise of fresh KDF officers and youth in all the 47 counties are encouraged to participate in the exercise that according to Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai it will an open, just, free and transparent exercise.
