Police in Kisauni, Mombasa County have launched a manhunt against a barbaric husband who bite off his wife’s lips.

Bamburi Police officers said that the man known as David quarreled with the wife at their home near ‘Masters’ area in Bamburi before biting off his lower lips causing her severe injuries.

Mombasa Police Commandant Johnston Ipara said that preliminary investigations showed that the woman Ann Waireri has had a brutal husband who has been senselessly beating her up.

He said that the woman had reported to the police that she has experienced severe beating and other forms of brutality from her husband that she finally decided to report at the Bamburi police station after their love went sour.

“It seems she has remained numb all along hoping that her husband would change but things did not work out well with her,” noted Mr. Ipara.

The husband is said to be a businessman at the Nakumatt Nyali area in Mombasa.

A devastated Waireri was asked to go to the Coast general referral hospital for treatment and a P3 form be filled so that police can institute legal proceedings against the undomesticated husband.

“It is a serious matter and we will truly follow it up to the end, we have to arrest and charge the husband,” added Mr. Ipara.

According to neighbors, the husband once attempted to strangle Waireri after she denied him some money but after a though beating she gave in and handed over all the amount she had to her ‘husband from hell’.

Meanwhile Muslims for human rights-MUHURI Gender and Children rights officer Ms Topista Juma has condemned the incident saying that such occurrences are on the rise in Mombasa and the entire Coast region.

Such gender based violence cases have been reported from couples within Mombasa County where some men even set their wives on fire like the recent Likoni devastating confrontation where a husband killed four family members among them his wife,” added Topista.

She appealed to the police to ensure the man is arrested and punished according to the law.
