Police in Kisauni have been challenged to enhance security operations so as to tame illegal criminal gangs in the constituency.
Kisauni Member of Parliament Ali Mbogo said that security was the base of development in the constituency and that security agents should employ all measures to curb the emergence of criminal gangs in the area.
Addressing locals at Majaoni in Bamburi area within his constituency, Mbogo said that Kisauni residents have been grappling with insecurity for a long time, and the issue should be conclusively resolved.
According to Mbogo, youth were recruited in criminal gangs hence destabilizing security and instill fear among locals, a situation that if ignored will affect the economy of the area.
“We urge police to put more efforts in curbing the menace, we understand that they have showed positive response but we want to see more,” he said.
The legislature however admitted that security issue was a collective responsibility.
“If our mothers heading to Kongowea market in the morning are robbed of their valuables, tenants vacate rental houses then we will be economically destabilized,” he added.
The Kisauni Legislature however appealed to parents in Kisauni to take their responsibilities seriously and give their children proper upbringing.
On his part, Kisauni OCPD Sangura Musee assured the legislature that police were vigilant and that they have enhanced security operations in the affected areas of Mwandoni, Mtopanga, Bamburi, Barsheba, Mishomoroni among others in a bid to tame all illegal juvenile gangs.
