A body of a man has been retrieved in the ongoing multi-agency rescue operation at the Likoni ferry channel after a car plunged into the Indian Ocean.
According to the Kenya Ferry Services management, the saloon car from the Likoni mainland south was heading to Mombasa Island and the drived despite being flagged off drove off and plunged into the ocean at around 4. 20 am.
The statement further indicated that the awaiting ferry at the dock had already begun sailing off to the Mombasa Island.
The 46 year old John Mutinda’s body has been taken to the Coast referral hospital morgue.
The multi- agency operation is headed by the Kenya Navy, the Kenya Coast guard and the KFS disaster response team.
