Mombasa County Commissioner Evans Achoki who was expected to address journalist on Tuesday on the ongoing Agricultural Society of Kenya Show did not turn up.
It is not yet clear where Achoki is heading.
The reshuffle comes after Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i stern warning that the fight against drug trafficking in Mombasa was yielding no fruits.
“We are aware that this menace involved the Judiciary, Police and politics, we will handle the situation and some police officers will be transferred,” he said.
However the recent bungled search operation at suspected drug baron Ali Punjani has been singled out as the fueling factor for the transfer.
Ipara led the anti- drug operation at Punjani’s residence but only one roll of bhang and Ksh. 3,000 shillings were recovered.
Later Ipara would be ordered to return all the documents police confiscated during the botched anti-drug operation.
However, the Interior CS says the anti-drug operation at the Coast which has been blamed for yielding the dangerous machete wielding young gangs in Mombasa is on course.
