Mvita Member of Parliament Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir has drummed support for women entrepreneurs in his constituency.
Nassir said that women were the pillar of the community and if well supported and their efforts fully backed they can positively impact the economy.
The Legislature said that a great number of women in his constituency have shown the zeal to venture into small scale businesses and the Constituency leadership was moved by such positive and encouraging hard work.
He said that the CDF, Uwezo fund, Women enterprises development fund among other financial programs launched by the Central government will be fully utilised to uplift women’s’ businesses.
He revealed that he will organise several exhibitions and financial management workshops for the women entrepreneurs so that they progress in their entrepreneurial ventures.
“If our women embrace self employment, our youth will follow suit and the impact will be a positive economic growth,” he reiterated.
Nassir said that the now five year old ‘Skills mtaani’ program was very active and that most young female entrepreneurs have embraced self employment instead of desperately seeking for employment.
“We cannot all be absorbed by the county or central government or even the private sector, we need to venture into self employment,” he noted.
During the motivational talk seminar that focused more on self employment and how women could venture into small scale entrepreneur, the Legislature appealed to the women to seek financial education from the already established entrepreneurs so that they too prosper in their businesses.
The entrepreneurial seminar and motivational talk which took place at the Lohana hall in Mombasa was organised by ‘Mompreneurs’ a women in business organisation that incorporates various women groups in business within Mvita Constituency.
