The CS for Tourism and Wildlife Najib Balala has received a charter flight from Ukraine at the Moi International Airport Mombasa with 189 tourists.

The tourists will tour national parks safaris and the beaches.

This is a second chartered flight into Kenya from Eastern Europe in a month’s period.

Mombasa county says this was its initiative through sister cities program to sell Mombasa as a destination.

Mombasa Tourism Chief Officer Asha Abdi says the arrival of the chartered plane in Mombasa is just a start of their work as a county to market Mombasa.

However Balala noted that the arrival of the plane amid the pandemic is a show of confident in the region.

Balala noted that the Eastern Europe is opening up to the country which is a good thing for the economy as the county awaits the other regions to open up.

The CS says from Wednesday next week the tourism industry will start vaccination process as they will launch 5000 doses for Nairobi.

As they plan for another 1000,000 for other areas.

Balala noted that it is good for the players on tourism industry to get the jab as the tourism sector becomes promising.
