Small scale business, the way to reduce poverty – MP

Kisauni Member of Parliament Ali Mbogo has reiterated his support to small traders in his constituency.

Mbogo said that small scale ventures were the only way to elevate families from poverty considering that vast area of Kisauni Constituency is rural.

Speaking in his constituency on Tuesday, Mbogo said that he was ready to mobilise resources and utilise all financial avenues to ensure that small scale business get adequate financial support.

The Legislature said that youth and women groups that ventures in business within the Constituency were at his heart and vowed to work out a plan to ensure they benefit from the available resources.

Mbogo who also appealed to women and youth to form groups to ease planning of informative medium investments forums and financial management education said that some youth and women in other parts of the country have become big investors through small businesses and Kisauni should not lag behind.

The legislature revealed that poverty has resulted into desperate youth seeking employment and urged youth to rethink and venture into self reliance.

“A community is economically built by innovative minds and if our women and youth embrace self employment through business projects, we will overcome the drastic economic challenges in Kisauni,” he noted.

The MP revealed that plans were already underway to conduct open dialogue forums on small scale investments as well as assisting women and youth groups access loans from government launched funds geared towards uplifting such groups economically.

“Women and youth have become reliable pillars of any society, we need to invest in them so that we leave a desired legacy, let’s unite for this noble course,” he noted.

During the forum, 15 small traders benefited from stock and cash worth 100,000 shillings from the Legislature.
