Coast Regional police Commandant Rashid Yakub has been transferred to Nairobi.

In changes effected by Deputy Inspector of Police Edward Mbugua on Saturday, Yakub will replace Philip Ndolo who has been sent to the Kiganjo police training college in Nyeri as the institution’s Deputy Commander.

The region has received a new police Boss Gabriel Musau.

Mr. Musau has been the Deputy Commander at Kiganjo police training college, Nyeri.

He once served in the Coast region as the Coast head of operations.

Nairobi Fracas

It’s not yet clear what triggered the transfer since Mr. Yakub was transferred to the Coast in 2019 after serving for a long time as western region police commandant.

Last year Mr. Yakub was entangle in commotion with Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko at Voi air strip in Taita taveta County.

However Yakub later dropped charges he has pressed against Sonko.

Kenyans have seen the move as an aim to quell the Nairobi county assembly unending fracas between two factions, the one supporting Sonko against the supporting the County assembly speaker Beatrice Elachi.

However, Mbugwa when effecting the changes said the move was a normal change in the police service.
