Shanzu law court has released 11 suspects alleged to have been engaging in obscene activities at Nyali area in Mombasa.
Senior principal Magistrate Florence Macharia released the two main suspects Marceline Otieno and Elisha Ochieng on sh 100,000 bond or sh 50,000 cash bail.
While the other 9 among them Mariam Hamza, Dolly Kanana, Laureen Achieng, Salma Makeri.
Others being Knight Otieno, Faith Mwatani, Diana Wairimu, Christine Mutua and Anita Mburu were released on sh 50,000 bond or 20,000 cash bail after they denied the charges.
However, investigations officer Duncan Mokaya attached to the Mombasa human trafficking department objected to their release saying the first key suspect Marceline Otieno may flee the country as she has been into the USA previously.
“We are also in possession of 16 laptops, mobile phones, cameras, flash disks and artificial penis which should be taken to the government lab and cyber crime unit for forensic analysis,” he told the court.
Mokaya also revealed that Marceline owns webcam site ‘Chat bate’ which is directly linked to the International multimedia LLC company that was used to air the nudies and pornographic videos.
“When released on bond or bail, these accused persons will interfere with investigations by erasing all the necessary evidence in those two sites,” added Mokaya in his sworn affidavit.
However the 11 suspects who were arrested on diverse dates between 10th and 11th of July this year were released on bond.
Hearing was set for November 25th after being mentioned on the 30th of July this year.
