Diamond Trust Bank (DTB) has kicked off a KSh10-million support program to 2,000 vulnerable families in Mombasa.
The 30 days program will also involve drilling two boreholes.
The program will be implemented in partnership with Mombasa County Government and the County Emergency Household Relief and Nutrition Support Project Committee.
The initiative is part of the Bank’s interventions to cushion the most vulnerable from the effects of the Coronavirus pandemic.
5 million shillings will be spent on relief food and same amount to be used in drilling bore holes in the county.
“As part of the community we are committed to stand with the people during this Covid-19 pandemic time and to lend a hand to the vulnerable,” said DTB Coast regional Manager Jacob Shibu.
“This donation will reach the intended families and all will be accounted for,” said Mombasa governor Ali Hassan Joho.
He appealed for more support from other cooperates and well-wishers.
The Mombasa initiative is part of DTB’s commitment of KSh100 million for interventions to reduce the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic, where 50 million shillings was handed to the Emergency Response Fund.
