Former KTN News anchor Mwanaisha Chidzuga loses mother

Former KTN News anchor Mwanaisha Chidzuga is mourning her mother.

Zenab Kalekye Chidzuga died at a Nairobi hospital on Thursday according to family.

No more details were revealed on what led to her demise, however, it is suspected that she contracted Covid-19.

Chidzuga was the first Kwale county Woman representative who sailed through on an ODM ticket but later jumped off the wagon to Jubilee party together with the current Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya.

She was floored by the current Kwale women representative Zuleikha Hassan in the 2017 general polls.

Youth activist

Chidzuga was very vocal on gender and youth matters and became a darling to many youths in the county.

She engaged Kwale youth in fighting drugs and Chidzuga was always close to women and youth in battling the drug menace in the county.

“If we do not safeguard our own young generation…who will bury us?” She once said in Ukunda while engaging youth and women.

Ms. Chidzuga was as well vocal on gender parity issues and always put her efforts into empowering women.

He detested gender-based violence and called for concerted efforts in battling crime and social vice.

After she lost the political battle to Zuleikha, Chidzuga was later appointed by President Uhuru Kenyatta to the Kenya Oil and Petroleum corporation Board as one of the directors, a post she held until her demise on Thursday.

Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya is among those who led Kwale locals in mourning the later Zenab Kalekye Chidzuga.
