Police in Likoni have arrested for suspected criminals believed to be behind attacks in Shonda area.
Earlier, police arrested two suspects who helped them net their accomplices.
The four, Mwinyi Juma, 18, Joseph Charongo, 19, Ali Mohammed, 19 years and a 20 year old Shaban Mohammed are being detained at Inuka Police station awaiting to be arraigned before Mombasa law court.
The machete welding gang has been terrorising Likoni residents, stealing their valuables, injuring and eventually killing innocent souls.
The situation has deeply affected businesses in the area with recent reports indicating that most businesses close by 6 pm for fear of being attacked by the gang.
However, Likoni police boss Joseph Karanja recently warned that the security agents were swinging into action leaving no stone unturned.
Karanja said Likoni Sub-County has been peaceful for years and police will not allow few youth to disrupt the peaceful co-existence.
“We want the residents to take the lead role in helping as net those culprits, we must deal with this issue once and for all,” he warned.
He further blamed parents for failing to fully take their responsibilities seriously in a bid to tame the increasing insecurity in the area.
“Most of these youth entangled into crime are minors at the school going age, why are they not in school?” posed Karanja.
He warned that if Likoni parents will never admit their mistakes, rectify themselves and fully take charge of their roles in bringing up their children, they will regret it in future.
The security boss further called for a communal approach in the fight against insecurity in Likoni.
