Four family members have died and three critically injured after a fire gutted a house in Likoni, Mombasa County.
Confirming the incident, Likoni Deputy County Commissioner Erick Wamulevu said the fire broke out around 9 pm last night following a quarrel between a couple.
According to Likoni Officer in charge of police division (OCPD) Benjamin Rotich, two children are among those who lost their lives in the Monday evening fire that occurred in Ijara village near Our lady of Mercy school, Timbwani ward.
Reports from area residents indicated that a domestic row was the root cause which resulted to the father of the family-currently receiving treatment with other two people, allegedly torching the house after locking exit points.
The fire that spread to a nearby house caused damage to properties of unknown value was later contained by Mombasa County Fire and Rescue service unit together with locals who played a major role in the rescue mission.
