Mvita legislature Abdulswamad Sharif Nassir wants anti-narcotic police unit to freeze all bank accounts belonging to drug barons.
Nassir said the barons have caused security, economic and social problems at the Coast and they should face stern actions.
Speaking in Mombasa, Nassir said, harsh punishment against barons including freezing their bank accounts and property during investigation will serve them right.
He said if left accessing their monies, they will carry on with there business that is killing the society.
“We are all tired with the drug menace in the region, let police do everything possible to tame the menace,” noted Mr. Nassir.
He also urged the judiciary to give hefty penalties to drug suspects.
“They are always released on bond and they pay immediately ending up threatening witnesses while out on bond, this should stop, they should remain behind bars throughout the hearing period,” he added.
He supported the ongoing crackdown against drug traffickers in Mombasa County.
Nassir said the operation will change the script in the fight against drug trafficking in the region.
He appealed to the authorities in charge to ensure the drug network is completely destabilised.
Nassir’s sentiments comes as police are holding 18 drug suspects among them Bofu Ward MCA Ahmed Salama who is linked to the illegal trade.
Police also raided Mombasa Tycoon Ali Punjani mansion in Nyali Monday evening ordering Punjani to immediately surrender to police.
