The Nation will observe mourning throughout the period until the late former President of Kenya Daniel Rap Moi will be laid to rest.
In a statement to newsrooms on Tuesday morning, President Uhuru Kenyatta ordered all the flags at the Statehouse, all public places and Kenyan Embassies across the globe to be flown half-mast in respect of the late second president of Kenya.
Moi passed on in the morning of 4th February at the Nairobi hospital in the presence of his family members aged 95 years.
“It is with profound sadness and sorrow that I announce the passing on of a dedicated selfless national and an Africa leader former President Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi,” read part of the statement.
Moi led Kenya for 24 years before his retirement.
He mentored various political leaders including President Uhuru Kenyatta.
He worked as a teacher legislature, Member of Parliament, he served in the cabinet, became Vice president and finally the President of the republic of Kenya.
