Investigations have been launched over the early morning fire that gutted down Garissa County Assembly buildings.
Other offices were also reduced to rubbles with property worth millions of shillings destroyed.
The Senate was planning to visit the assembly early next week.
The cause of the fire remains unknown.
Locals and other staff were seen taking videos of the inferno using their mobile phones in front of at least three fire extinguisher cylinders at the main door of the assembly chambers.
Garissa County Assembly clerk Mohammed Santuri said over 50 percent of the building has been razed down.
Though he said the cause of the inferno is yet to be established investigation to unravel the root cause of the fire is underway.
According to Santuri, the assembly and other 48 officers used by assembly members and other staff were razed down.
“We are yet to establish the exact cause of the fire and we are yet to assess the loss as well,” revealed Mr. Santuri.
He said the fire was very excessive and no one could put it off immediately.
