Grain Industries Limited (GIL) the owner of Ajab baking and maize flour brands has fired its employee Swabri Abdulrazak Mohamed after a disturbing video of the security guard circulated on social media on Sunday.
In the disturbing and inhuman acts captured in the video clip that pained Kenyans, Mohamed is seen torturing a young man said to be a street boy for trespassing.
The video also shows the security guard burning the young man with drops of a burning mosquito net while the young man yells for help from onlookers.
Further the victim under Mohamed hands is tied on the neck with a rope that is as well tied on an electricty poll.
However, the Grain industries limited company management said the incident happened on September, 2020 and outside the company’s premises.
“Since the video has been circulating allover the social media, the company has been fully cooperating with the DCI. We want to assure the public that Mohamed has been fired from the company,” read part of the statement.
The management further said it adheres to all labour and safety requirements and strict adherence to the company policy.
On Monday, the DCI comfirmed the arrest of mohamed, 33 and said he will be charged in court for gross human rights violation.
