46 people have so far died of Coronavirus in Mombasa county.
According to Mombasa county medical services Chief Officer Doctor Khadija Shikelly, the data is from the total 969 Coronavirus positive cases recorded in Mombasa since March this year.
Dr. Shikelly however said a total of 374 patients have so far recovered from the disease are discharged from the isolation and treatment centre in the county.
According to the county health official, the county has invested into combating the spread of the disease and locals should support such efforts.
“We have a total of 450 beds in our isolation Technical University of Mombasa TUM and at the Coast General Referral Hospital,” she said.
Shikelly reminded locals to fully observe the health guidelines so as to avert further spread of Coronavirus among locals.
“We are also embracing the home based care as directed by the national government,” she noted.
Dr. Shikelly gave the sentiments after receiving a total of 1050 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) from business man Suleiman Shahbal.
On his part, Shahbal commended Mombasa county government for the efforts implemented to curtail the spread of Coronavirus.
He said the public private pertnership has positively impacted the fight against the deadly virus in the county.
“These equipment will help our health workers in providing the badly needed health services in our county isolation and treatment centre,” said Shahbal.
Shahbal also urged locals to always observe health measures so that they remain safe.
“Some counties have only 10 beds in their isolation centres, let’s support our county so that we tame the spread of this disease,” said Shahbal.
