The Kenya Union of nurses has criticised Orange Democratic Party for interfering with the ongoing investigation at the medical supply agency KEMSA.

Kenya Union of Nurses Secretary General Seth Panyako said the ODM Party should be ashamed of itself for involving politics where it is not needed.

According to Panyako, the corruption claims surrounding the Kenya Medical Supply Agency- KEMSA must be thoroughly investigated and all those involved in the embezzlement be fully punished.

Panyako has asked the ODM Party to put off politics in such a serious health issue.

“As medics in this country, we are dissapointed by the ODM Secretary General Friday remarks that there is not corruption in KEMSA, how did they know?” Posed Mr. Panyako.

An agitated Panyako blamed ODM Leader Raila Odinga for failing to play his role in criticising the government.

“We equally understand that the Raila we use to know is currently deep state and cannot criticise the government,” noted Mr Panyako.

He said the recent 100 million shillings embezzlement allegations at the main government medical supply agency should be properly pursued.

The European Union and other International donors have vowed to withdraw their funding towards the country’s health kitty.

The funding of up to 400 million shillings may be halted following the mismanagement of fund at government supplies agency.

Already some of the top KEMSA officials have been suspended pending investigation over the graft allegations.

Recently, the parliament select committee on health interrogated some of the top KEMSA officials who could not openly state what transpired at the government institution.

Meanwhile some political leaders from the Western region have asked the Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe to step aside.

This is after an alleged embezzlement of funds geared towards taming the spread of Covid-19 in the country.
