Infant murdered, eyes chopped off in Kisauni, Mombasa

Police in Kisauni, Mombasa County are detaining two women over a bizarre incident where a four months old baby was killed and eyes chopped off.

According to Mjambere Police Boss Juma Londo, the two women Mariam Wanjiku who is the grandmother to the baby and the infant’s mother Betty Njambi, though they have denied having committed the heinous act, police strongly believe that the two are involved in the baby’s death.

Londo said they nabbed the two at their Mishomoroni home and they are detaining them before they are charged before court immediately investigations are complete.

“These two have to tell us what real transpired because whatever they are saying does not add up, the infant’s face was fully of blood, that alone signals some violence meted against the innocent soul,” revealed Mr Londo.

He said the Criminal Investigations Officers have already taken over the investigations adding that no one involved in the inhuman acts will be spared.

The incident that happened at Kadongo area of Mishomoroni attracted the attention of locals who thronged the home to get a grasp of what could have happened.

Some of the residents wanted to revenge but police shielded the suspects during the Wednesday afternoon incident.

Police are still investigating the freak and dehumanising occurrence.

The body of the baby which had blood all over its face has been taken to the Coast General Teaching and Referral Hospital morgue.
