Nyali MP Mohammed Ali’s says thwarting of his impeachment motion against Transport Cabinet James Macharia is politically instigated and has nothing to do with threshold.
Ali had given notice to table a motion seeking to remove Transport CS James Macharia from office over his order to use SGR to transport cargo from Mombasa to Naivasha Inland Container Depot.
He said the CS’s action has caused a public outcry and has affected the transportation sector negatively, forcing some companies to shut down.
According to Macharia, Ali’s impeachment motion lacked tangible evidence.
Ali says he clearly knows that some people supporting the Transport CS are behind the inadmissibility of the impeachment motion since it attained the above 87 signatures required.
Ali says it is clear that Coast MP’s failure to support the motion has also attributed to his being alone in the fight for Coastal people.
According to Ali, it is a total shame for Coastal leaders to ignore the plights of locals despite clearly knowing that the transport sector has been the main economic activity for locals.

“We clearly know that the system is behind all these political intrigues, the motion to impeach Macharia is complete and was only awaiting the floor of the house,” noted Mr. Ali.
He said he is not discouraged by the move and appealed to locals to fully unite in fighting for what is truly theirs.
Last month, Macharia announced a mandatory transportation of all cargo destined for Uganda, Rwanda and South Sudan to be transported via ‘Standard Gauge Railway’ for clearance at the Naivasha ICD starting June 1.
The MP also wanted the CS to be removed for gross misconduct and misuse of his office.
