The Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji has ordered a trial over murder of Monica Kimani, who was killed in her house in Kilimani, Nairobi on September 19.
In a statement sent to the media, the Director of Public Prosecution Noordin M. Haji said after independently reviewing the evidence so far on record he is satisfied that there exists a prima facie case to warrant criminal prosecution against the TV journalist Jacque Maribe and her fiance Joseph Irungu alias Jowie for the offence Murder contrary to the section 203 as read with section 204 of the Penal Code.
Apart from that, earlier Tuesday morning when the two suspects were presented in court, the High Court ordered suspects Jacque Maribe and her fiancé Joseph Irungu detained until Monday after a mental assessment was ordered for the television journalist.
According to Justice Jessi Lessit, the suspect cannot be called upon and take plea without a mental examination.
Ms Maribe will undergo the test at Mathari Hospital in Nairobi.
