Mvita Member of Parliament Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir has assured youth who participated in the Kazi mtaani initiative that they will be paid their dues as from tomorrow (Monday).
Nassir said the payments have been delayed for various reasons among them conflicting details of mobile phone numbers and identity cards registration numbers of the youth.
Nassir said he has received massive complaints from the youth, some who worked in early July, 2020 but are yet to receive their dues.
According to Nassir, he has been in talks with the national government and the youth will receive their dues starting tomorrow.
He said most youth had high hopes that they would invest the dues in small businesses but all their hopes have been thwarted.
“It is evident that there have been various challenges in the implementation of this hygiene program but all these hiccups have been addressed,” he assured Mombasa youth.
According to the Lawmaker, some youth outside his constituency filed several complaints to him, urging him to take up the matter to the national government.
“Our youth were very disparate after their plans were shun by the delay of their dues and indeed I intervened and from Monday they will be receiving their payments,” reiterated Mr. Nassir.
He also acknowledged that working tools to enable the youth implement the program also proved to be a challenge.
He however, said that the issue was deliberated at length and addressed as well.
Over 3,000 youth from Mvita Constituency benefitted from the hygiene program dubbed ‘Kazi mtaani’
Nassir remarks come after the national government assured the youth that they will all receive their pay.
State Department Housing and Urban Development Principal Secretary Charles Hinga said all the pending payments for the ‘Kazi mtaani’ will be paid to youth from Monday.
