Malindi High Court has granted Sh1 million bond and surety of the same amount to each of the two Kilifi cops charged with murdering a teenager.
Simeon Ayodo and Amos Kipsang are accused of shooting dead 17 years old Katana Kazungu in June last year.
However, high court judge Reuben Nyakundi said there is need to determine the suitability of surety for accused persons.
Muslims for Human Rights-MUHURI is holding brief for the deceased’s family.
Kazungu was shot dead in June last year in Tsangatsini, Kaloleni.
He was the first-born and a Class Seven pupil at Ndatani Primary School.
The officers allegedly killed him when he was helping push a truck that was stuck in a mud.
The truck was transporting ballast from a nearby quarry and the officer shot Kazungu at a very close range according to earlier autopsy report.
MUHURI pushed for a postmortem report after police tried to block the process furnishing Independent Police Oversight Authority-IPOA with relevant information that led to arrest of the two police officers.
The two officers had been remanded for close to a month when the court released them.
Nyakundi set April 8, 2019 as pretrial date.
