Police in Lamu are detaining a 28 years old man for allegedly sodomising a minor.

Lamu Island Police boss Joel Lekuta said Sylvanus Okinyi, 28 lured the boy, 16 years old, that he would offer him job in the hotel industry within Lamu county.

Okinyi took advantage of the young boy they met on Facebook social network and who they have been in touch for a year before the minor traveled from Kisumu to Lamu eager to start working in the hotel industry about two months ago.

However, according to Mr. Lekuta things turned the unexpected after Okinyi sodomised the entire two months’ period he lived with the boy.

Okinyi did not offer the boy any job as promised.

Distress call

“The boy after he could no longer endure the pain, he took Okinyi’s phone and opted to call police code 999 to get police assistance,” said Mr. Lekuta.

The distress call reached police headquarters in Nairobi where top investigation officers acted immediately leading to the arrest of Okinyi on Monday at his room in Lamu Island.

“After doctors’ examination, we confirmed that indeed the boy has been going through the ordeal and that he sustained injuries in her private parts,” noted Mr. Lekuta.

Police have taken custody of the boy as they pursue the case in court.

He said the suspect will be charged for unlawfully engaging in unnatural act with a minor.

The police boss further revealed that the boy might have been lured easily into the trap following the hardships he was going through back at their home in Kisumu.
