Lamu MCA released after a successful appeal


Mkomani Ward Member of the Lamu County Assembly Yahya Shee has been released after spending three weeks in prison.

Mr. Shee famously known as Basode was sentenced to five year jail term after he was found guilty of six counts by Lamu court.

On June, 2, 2017, Shee, together with others forcibly attempted to secure the release of a drug trafficker in Lamu.

The Lamu Island MCA was on April, 6 found guilty of all the six counts.

The court further said that Shee tried to secretly aid the drug trafficker out of police custody.

The trafficker has just been handed a 20 year jail term by Lamu court during the incident.

The court sentenced Shee to 5 years jail term.

However, through his lawyers, Shee was today released from prison after a successful appeal.

The Court of Appeal is expected to set fresh dates for the hearing of the case.
