Lamu activists have raised concerns over poor parenting in the county.

The activists say some parents are introducing their children to drugs at by sending them to shops to buy them cigarettes.

Led by Lamu Justice Network Director Yunus Ahmed, the activist say when children are being familiarised to drugs at tender age they will mostly indulge in drug and substance abuse.

According to Ahmed, Lamu parents should immediately stop sending their children to buy them cigarettes, Miraa or Muguka since such induces them to drugs.

“Lamu is immersed into drugs, our youth are dying and parents are only inducing the love of drugs to their children,” noted Mr. Ahmed.

He warned that such habits will negatively affect the children’s well being.

Lamu is among the Coastal counties badly affected by drugs with Mombasa and Kwale also facing the same drastic situation.

Meanwhile Mr. Ahmed has urged security agencies to curtail traffickers in the county.
