Children should have a chance to copy the very best habits from their parents, a counselor has said.
Bakari Ali, Reachout Center Trust Counselor says some parents are being ‘Too busy’ which has drastically affected the upbringing of their children.
He says parents have created gap between their children and themselves a situation that has negatively impacted on their children lives.
Speaking at the organizations’ offices in Old town, Mombasa, Bakari urged parents to be more responsible in executing the task of upbringing of their children.
“Children learn from their parents, if parents become a bad example, their children will be a worse example,” disclosed the young experienced counselor.
He warned that giving children extreme freedom may also end up spoiling them
“Let’s not be too hard on them neither should we be too soft and pamper our children it is about responsibility,” he said.
Meanwhile Mr. Ali is encouraging the community to be vigilant especially during this festive season so as to deter youth from societal evils including drugs, crime and irresponsible sexual behaviours.
He said you remain vulnerable to many issues that could easily plunge them into regrets.
However, Ali revealed that the organisation is working closely with the community at grassroots level to impart the right information to the youth about drugs HIV and AIDS so that they take control of their own destiny.
