Human right activists have lauded Kenyan top rapper and spoken word artist Kennedy Ombina famously known as King Kaka for his recent release ‘Wajinga nyinyi’.
The Swahili phrase which loosely translates to ‘You are stupid’ has elicited heated debate across the country with activists, fellow artist and Kenyans fully backing up the artists.
Addressing Journalists at Haki Africa offices in Mombasa on Tuesday, the Organisation’s Rapid Response Officer Mathias Hezron Shipetta said King Kaka also known as Kaka Rabbit or Kaka Sungura is simply sharing what many Kenyans feel but fear expressing it outside their living rooms.
Shipetta flanked by other Mombasa young artists said King Kaka has turned the tables upside down for some politicians through his creative piece.
“This particular song is actually calling on Kenyans to change the way they have been electing their leaders, it is through such reckless deeds that we are currently experiencing pathetic leadership,” he said.
The renowned human rights defender rubbished those threatening King Kaka saying the defenders, Kenyans, lawyers and fellow artists will fearlessly and jealously rally behind Mr. Ombima.

“Some of the leaders are using their heavy financial capability and machinery to threaten the artist, we will respond by using the power of Kenyans to battle it out in court if they dare,” he lamented.
On his part, spoken word artist Amunga Derick said King Kaka was expressing himself and telling Kenyans using the language they understand most, Sheng.
“We will not lie low, we will fight for this country until it is completely corruption free, we are Kenyan citizens and we speak for our fellow Kenyans,” reiterated Mr. Amunga.
Earlier, the Director of Criminal Investigation (DCI) denied claims that they have summoned King Kaka.
This is after the rapper posted on his twitter handle that he has been summoned by the DCI.
His Manager Dennis Njenga confirmed that indeed he has been summoned to appear before the DCI.
The release ‘Wajinga nyinyi’ expresses the level of corruption in the country, poor leadership, discrimination among other evils in the government.
