The Director of Public Prosecutions- DPP Noordin Haji has approved murder charges against Malindi Member of Parliament Aisha Jumwa.
Jumwa is alleged to have shot and killed a man, Ngumbau Jolla during the Ganda Ward by-election in Malindi, Kilifi County in October 2019.
Jumwa is set to undergo mental assessment on Wednesday next week before she is arraigned in court.
Jolla was shot dead during a fracas between Orange Democratic Movement- ODM supporters in Ganda ward in October 2019.
Jumwa allegedly stormed ODM agents meeting at the home of Reuben Katana, an ODM candidate for the Ganda Ward by-election who won the election.
Jumwa demanded to know why they were still conducting campaigns a day before the election despite the fact that campaign period had lapsed.
However, the agents said it was an agents training and not a campaign forum for ODM candidate Mr. Reuben Katana.
It is alleged that her boardguard withdrew a gun and shot Jolla on the chest killing him instantly.
However, Jumwa has defended herself saying she was not involved in the killing of Jolla.
Recently Jumwa termed the alleged murder charges against her politically instigated.
