A Mombasa man was on Thursday morning rescued after he jumped into the Indian Ocean at the Nyali bridge attempting to kill himself.
No details were revealed about him by security agents but witnesses said that the man parked his car and went to the Nyali bridge where he threw himself few minutes later.
Divers from the Mombasa County government and Kenya Red Cross Society disaster management team rescued the man who showed confusion.
According to those who saved his life, the man only said ‘I want to die’ adding nothing else.
The rescuers took him to the Coast level 5 hospital for urgent medical attention.
Police said that they will charge him for attempting suicide.
According to Mombasa County Police Commandant Johnston Ipara, such incidences have been reported at the Likoni ferry Channel, Nyali bridge, Tudor and Jomo Kenyatta public beach famously known as ‘Pirates’ within the county.
